If you are a Grade 10–12 student, attend the free classes organised by the environmental scientists’ school “Environmental Academy” and gain an advantage when applying to the Faculty of Science and Technology at the University of Latvia! You will have the opportunity to learn many new things in an active and engaging way.
At the Academy you will be able to gain knowledge and understanding about the environment and the need for environmental protection. Each class is dedicated to one of the topics in environmental science, such as water quality, sustainable use of resources, urban environmental quality, human impact on natural processes, etc. The classes include both a theoretical part and a practical part, during which participants develop practical skills by working in scientific laboratories and learning software that is also used in everyday professional practice in the field. Faculty researchers and guests from environmental protection institutions, municipalities and companies also take part in the classes, giving participants real insight into ongoing research and project work.
The class schedule is divided into three different academic-year cycles, ensuring new knowledge throughout all years of upper secondary school.
By taking part in activities and demonstrating their knowledge and skills in the environmental topics covered, participants collect points, and at the end of the academic year the three top performers will gain an advantage when applying for bachelor’s studies.
We meet once a month on Saturdays at the University of Latvia Academic Centre for Natural Sciences, 1 Jelgavas Street, Riga.
