Project objective: The aim of the project is to establish the Latvian Chip Competence Centre (LCCC), which will serve as a national coordination point for the development of the semiconductor and microelectronics ecosystem in Latvia. The Centre’s mission is to strengthen cooperation between academia and industry, support companies and researchers, and promote access to expertise, infrastructure, funding, and international collaboration networks.
Key project outcomes:
- promote the visibility of the Chips JU and LCCC initiatives by engaging start‑ups and small and medium‑sized enterprises (SMEs) in the development of innovative technologies
- ensure access to Chips JU initiatives, including chip design platforms and pilot lines
- facilitate companies’ access to Europe‑wide initiatives and support participation in funding instruments, including the Chips Fund
- provide LCCC services to start‑ups and SMEs
- develop and implement new study course modules to strengthen students’ knowledge in microelectronics and related fields
- develop and deliver lifelong learning courses to support the professional development and continuous education of industry specialists
