On November 11st at 15:00 (EET) the lecture “How General Data Protection Regulation Affects IT Security” by Prof. Dr. Tobias Eggendorfer (Ravensburg-Weingarten University of Applied Sciences) will take place.

Some see the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) as a bureaucratic monster, creating a massive overhead for entrepreneurs: But is it that bad? Prof. Dr. Eggendorfer accentuate that more often than not - obeying to the GDPR enhances IT security measures, prevents cyber-attacks, reduces their side effects and helps to assess IT systems. Therefore, this lecture will show why and how General Data Protection Regulation and IT security interact, and how General Data Protection Regulation actually helps enhancing IT security.

Dr. Tobias Eggendorfer is a professor for IT security at the Ravensburg-Weingarten University of Applied Sciences and also serves as the university’s data protection officer. Prior to that, he was a professor for IT forensics in Hamburg. He is also a freelance IT security consultant and external data protection officer. He holds a long publication record both in technical as well as legal context.
