The aim of the competition is to promote the involvement of first- and second-year students of bachelor-level and short-cycle study programmes at the University of Latvia in the research activities of FST institutes and departments.
A total of 16 grants will be awarded. Each grant covers the period from 01.12.2025 to 30.06.2026 and includes a monthly stipend of 440 euros, corresponding to a 0.4 workload. The total workload of the grant recipient at the University of Latvia must not exceed full-time.

In addition to the quotas listed above, five grants will be awarded in an open competition, in which students from all University of Latvia study programmes may participate.
To apply, students must find a supervisor and a workplace within FST. The supervisor confirms their consent to supervise the work by signing the student’s application. A list of potential supervisors is provided in the attached table; additionally, students may choose any FST-affiliated supervisor who ensures the work is carried out within the faculty.
Applications must be submitted between October 20 and October 31, 2025 (inclusive) by sending an application consisting of a completed form and a motivation letter to eztf@lu.lv. The email subject line should read: “Bachelor Research Competition 2025.”
