The Institute of Numerical Modelling (INM) at the UL Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) will host weekly scientific seminars every Thursday. All interested participants are welcome to attend as listeners. This week, on Thursday, Apr 9, at 13:00--14:30 GMT+2, our guest at the INM weekly seminar will be Malo Marmol from Centre de Biologie Structurale (France)  with a lecture on magnetotactic bacteria (MTB) and theoretical models describing their collective dynamics and induced fluid flow.

This will be a third lecture on biophysics in our seminar series, where previously experimental methods and data-driven analysis were covered (thanks to Māra Šmite and Artūrs Sergejevs). Malo will present the results from a recent paper in Physical Review Letters "Driven Shear Flow in Biological Magnetoactive Fluids". The results are relevant for on-demand MTB swarm formation and harnessing active micro-swimmers for various applications.

As usual, the presentation will take place in Room 520 at INM, and will be streamed/recorded online via MS Teams:
