Micromachining with lasers opens new options: A today’s smartphone cannot be produced without laser micromachining, e.g. cutting of the display glass or processing of flexible printed electronic circuits. Also, in medicine laser assisted processes become more and more important. For tissue engineering purposes, polymeric nanofiber nonwovens are produced by electrospinning. These electrospun samples resemble the extracellular matrix of biological tissue, so that they are interesting candidates for cell scaffolds. To get optimized conditions for cell growth in three dimensions these sensitive materials have to be structured further. We will present some basics of laser micromachining and some results of nanofiber nonwovens with
