This workshop offers a practical pathway for integrating contemporary quantum topics into STEM, informatics, mathematics, and science education — without requiring any prior background in quantum physics.
Participants will:
- Discover an intuitive way to explain quantum superposition
- Explore simplified photonic demonstrations and conceptual foundations
- Experience Quantum Tic-Tac-Toe through guided gameplay and a mini-tournament
- Exchange ideas on classroom adaptation and learning outcomes
- Join a growing network of educators advancing quantum education in Latvia
Participation is free of charge.
Teachers who join the workshop will implement the activity in their schools this semester, engaging at least 40 students (or two classes), conducting a short anonymous feedback survey, and contributing to World Quantum Day initiatives.
The workshop will be conducted in English, with Latvian-language support available. The game is available in both English and Latvian.
Participation is limited to 30 teachers from primary and secondary education. Registration may close early if capacity is reached. Registration form.
Full workshop details (English & Latvian).
Application deadline: March 8, 2026 (or earlier if full capacity is reached).
The training programme has been developed by Assoc. Prof. Abuzer Yakaryilmaz (Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Science and Tehnology, University of Latvia) within the framework of the Latvian Quantum Initiative project and will be delivered by him.
